I would like to hear from people with experience on the Kanstul 976 euphonium. What differences are there between the interchangable bells? Is the copper bell responsive as well as dark? If you bought one of these instruments after trying some of the "Name" horns I would be interested to know what made the decision for you?

Thanks

I tried one a while back (with the standard bell). It was pretty easy to play and had a decent sound, although it did not seem to be a big as the pro horns I'm used to playing. Construction quality seemed to be good and finish was mostly good (except for some not-well-polished areas inside some of the body tubing). Intonation was the main area where I thought it needed a lot of work yet, and from a more recent report I read elsewhere the intonation may not be "fixed" yet. You can see how it lined up in my testing here:

I played one later with a bronze bell, and it seemed that the response might have suffered a bit with that setup. It may have contributed to a bigger sound, but the environment did not let me learn much about that. Sure was pretty, though!

The hard case included seemed very sturdy, but not what I would call good-looking.

The horn is made in America, and I was glad to learn that a U.S. manufacturer was actually willing to take on the task of building a compensating euphonium.
