I have a besson class A that that looks like from the 1920's, and it sounds like it is in A instead of Bb so i was wondering if that is how it was made or if it is broken somehow, it seems to play fine but in A.
Any info would help.

Re: Euphonium/ Baritone in A?
Two things come to mind:
1. It might be in a lower pitch than be use today.
2. It might be leaking.
If I were you I would take out a good tuner and figure out were exactly were it sits on the spectrum. A might be 425hz or 435... I would also check for leaks and make sure the valves aren't too worn down.

All of the above, but.........they were available in A too.
Hawkes listed Euphoniums in A, B flat & C in their catalogues.
