The internal point in the mouthpiece where the cup meets the shank. The backbore is generally tapered inwards slightly compared to the rest of the shank.txtuba01 wrote:Hello everybody! I know this may sound VERY dumb, but what's a backbore? I've been shown one by means of a cutaway, but what is it for? I've heard of people drilling it out, why? What are the positives/negatives of doing this? These are quite a few questions, but it just struck me from reading a previous thread that I don't know what it is.Any info. would be very appreciated. Take care everyone!
Some people feel enlarging this backbore with a drill will empower them with a huge sound and cure their neglected low range.
