Modifying a hard case

Well, I ordered the largest SKB case for my PT-6 and it just barely doesn't fit. Where do I take it to get this fixed / how do I fix this myself? The tuba snugly fits in the case height-wise and width-wise, but not breadth-wise. I can tell one piece of padding in particular is preventing me from closing the case. I'll take some pics soon if that will help.

Modified a SKB Euph case to fit my Pan Am 3V recently... If your case is similar, the innards are block styrofoam covered with a glued on black fuzzy cloth. Decide what has to be cut away to get a good fit and carefully cut away the cloth leaving it attached on at least 3 sides. Peel the cloth back and cut away the styrofoam with an X-acto knife; other possible tools...serrated steak knife ; small coarse saw blade etc. Cut away a little at a time, replace the cloth and check the fit...When it's right reglue the cloth (preferably where glue soaking through won't contact the horn, glue the case shut or some such...) any exposed styrofoam can be made to match with a black marker.
Obviously the above should only follow the decision to keep the case...dont think your warranty would be much good... Loren
