What are the tubas in the first post? That looks like a BIG F tuba.

Hallo,
thank you for all the kind comments. I'm glad everyone likes the photos.
Unfortunately, the atmosphere was not as pleasant as in previous years. Many firms graciously asked me not to photograph their instruments for fear of their designs being copied in Asia. While I don't agree with them about the lack of photographs as a deterent, I can understand their reaction. It's a sad feeling to see a clone of your instrument on someone elses stand.
To answer a few of the questions i've been getting:
to me, and take it with a grain of salt, the obvious tuba stars of the Musikmesse were the F tubas from G&P (the tubas in the first post photo) and the C tubas from Adams. The nice part of the Messe is that you can compare tubas side by side, and these were the best of the bunch.
I played everything that could take a tuba mouthpiece including the Siegfried. It's true from the legend, Siegfried does kill Fafner/Fasolt but Bayreuth still covers them all;)
Here is the video series from Laetzsch:

Have a good Monday everyone,

Hi-
Now I remember what I wanted to ask.....at the Cerveny display last year in Frankfurt, there was a 'new' Kaiser CC tuba shown/pictured--the 696--it was at least taller than the CC 601 Kaiser----was it on display this year? If so, did / has anyone played it? Impressions? I remember contacting Cerveny last year after seeing it,and I got a reply that even though it is not shown in their catalog, they do make a CC 696, but none had been sent to the U.S. Just curious if anyone here has played one?
Thanks-
Mark

Hallo Mark,
yes, I played the 696 CC tuba.
It was ok, but the 696 Bb tuba was excellent, in fact very similar to a Rudolf Meinl Bayreuth.
It would be worth your while to learn Bb fingerings...
