I read this forum for a while now and I'm positively surprised how active it is.
I wonder why there are just a few posts about the ITEC that soon will take place in Linz.

I Assume most are from US
Looks like i might find an opening to head down

I (and my wife if we can get visa sorted!) will be at ITEC with the Wessex Tubas stand, pleased to meet anyone coming to Linz.

Will have the little Bubbie tuba and new higher-leadpipe compensated EEb tuba to show amongst others.

Any other models you would particularly like to try, please email/PM beforehand, and I will try to include in the stock to bring

Ah, you got the high leadpipe one already..Cool.

Because it's in Linz, the majority of the people on the board are from the US, and it's expensive to get there from here.

As an aside, in general, I think VERY few people in the US could even tell you what country Linz is in, let along locate it on a map. Tuba players would likely do a lot better then the general public.

Linz is very much Tuba Country, being north in Austria,
close to the border of both Czech rep. and Germany.

Austria is a very nice country to visit so if anyone plans a trip
to Europe, give it a few extra days. MusikVeregn is a nice consert
hall to visit, and one can just show up and pay a few euros
for standing places in the back....Or of course order seat tickets

They also have a very good Brass Band, Austrian Brassband (using german style
tubas, not british style comps.) and is also the origin of mnozil brass.

It -could- be because this board is overwhelmingly US-based and -centric, but my opinion is has to do with a different bias: This board is anti-ITEA.

I'd guess that's true only for a VERY small percentage of people.

If people can't get the money to go to DC or Chicago for those conferences, no way can they get the money to go to Austria.

That said, Austria is an incredibly beautiful country, I was there about 6 years ago and can't wait to go back. Even if I were able to make the trip out there, I'd still find it difficult to spend more time at a tuba conference than up in the mountains.

I had a friend living in Vienna working as an impresario.

He also loved the mountains and surroundings, and of course
through his work I got a good in-pass of the musical high lights
and happenings.

Unfortunately he passed away young a few years back

He was also administrator of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester
A very nice opening to the professional life for many young players.

Always a great country to come back to

I am selling with options of high, or low leadpipe as desired - with, or without marching hooks/lyre block - and in lacquer, silver-plate, or silver/gold valve caps (maybe even raw brass to order!)

Not so good for us English speakers. It is a shame that TubaNews.com went under. There was a lot more European tubists there.
