anyone use Josef Klier mpcs? and does anybody have a comparison chart that compares Klier mpcs to others. I'm mostly interested in cup depths. Thank you

http://josefklier.de/mundstuecke/tuba/ is a listing of JK Mouthpieces with some idea of dimensions. My experience is that JK mouthpieces are probably made in the same facility as Miraphone but the only proof of this I have is visual examination of them. I use JK 8 Exclusive models. The earlier the letter designation is the deeper the mouthpiece is (an "A" is deeper than a "D"). You can step up or down in size in a very orderly fashion with these mouthpieces. The horn I have where they work the best is a MW 182.

I have "2" of the KBPs, a 2C and a Kanstul 2A (heavy JK 2A). The 2C is just about my favorite mouthpiece ever. I like it for low range euphonium and bass trombone, contrabone, and small tubas for a leaner sound (though I prefer the 1A there).

I used a "Josef Klier 6B Exclusive" for everything for 10 years. It was my only mouthpiece and it did a good job. The JK6B seems somewhat similar to the Helleberg 7B but has slightly more rounded edges (from my point of view).

Yeah I have two for euphonium. One came with my Alex tenor tuba and the other I bought myself. Nice pieces. The throats are a bit tighter on them so the highs are a bit easier but I always found the sound kinda thin with them compared to just a standard bach. Nice when I need to peck off some super high Ebs and Fs in a tuba ensemble.

I use a 5E on my Knoth Oldtimer alltime and on my B&S JBL Classic for solo stuff. On my bass bone I play on a 03AK which makes a BIG sound possible.
On my Conn 99J CC I love the 1A. Good combo.

Thanks for all who have replied. I'm considering getting a T6A or B for CC tuba, and a KBP3C for bass/contra work. Don't yet know the cup depths well enough to order for tenor bone.

A "B" cup is about the same depth as say a 4G to give you a ballpark guess. Because of the tight throat I say go bigger on cup unless you have a HUGE HEAVY horn.

Perhaps useful: in Germany there are 3 mouthpiece producers who serve almost the whole market: Josef Klier, Bruno Tilz and Bernhardt Schmidt.
And indeed: the Miraphone mouthpieces are being made by Josef Klier.

Anyone have a good sense as to whether a JK KBP 3B or 3A might work on F tuba? I'm looking for an unusually small rim and bright almost euphonium like sound.

I own(ed) a Vincent Bach 24aw plus JK 24aw.
In comparison the inner cup diameter, rim width, and bowl shape were close, but the JK was much shallower than the Bach in cup depth (circa 0.1"/2.5mm).
Manufacture quality of JK is pretty good, too.
The brightest sound and narrowest rimmed mp I own is a Curry.
