Those small instruments are nice as is. It would be even more fun if they could be of some use not only at the hotel room or dark nights at home in the kitchen with a mute though. However if using it together with a section of front directed bell instruments as sort of a minicimbasso or whatever there is one thing that might not work ideally. The bell is upwards.

So one question to those that may have some impact, and someting to say, about further development of the model, is there any chance of either a version with exchangeable bells, normal up or forward directed as a 'mini' recording bell, or two different versions?

I've thought about this also. I think a fifth valve would seal the deal for me.

A recording bell is a cool idea (though I'd still prefer a trumpet shape! ). A compact valve trombone shape might work.

Using the bubbie in performance is tough (if you really want to project) because of all the resistance from having it wrapped up so tightly. I don't think a forward facing bell would help that much.

I used it on stage with a microphone and the thing just didnt' 'cut'.

Now a 5th valve would be handy. It's a bit annoying working on things that I might play on my other 5 valved tubas, but have to alter when using the bubbie.

As for a trumpet-vibe thing - that's got to be too heavy to use for any length of time ...

Keep the ideas coming! I will look at for future development, although have other completely new models planned

I think 5th valve and forward facing bell should be possible.

Not convinced about market for turning it into trumpet style marching tuba.

I have already asked, but so far have not got anywhere with that one. I believe it is difficult on the tight bend.

Pop it on the side ... quick tilt of the instrument and all is sorted. Easier than pulling the damn thing out all the time ...

Is the tight wrap really the, or the only, thing to blame? What about the small bore? How does it react with a smaller mouthpiece, like for example a Bach 32E or something large bass trombonish?

True, one of the good things with Bubbie is the size and style. Besides, there are contra bass trumpets out there, even a Swedish made instrument..., for those that absolutely want to play trumpet style.

It's odd to read someone saying they're open to innovation but then saying no to exactly that.

Bass trombone mouthpieces have shank size issues. The best mouthpiece I found was the very deep cup one that came with it.

The narrow bore must also contribute to the stuffiness in performance.

That said, it's still great for practice.
