The Easter Sunrise service in Old Salem (Winston-Salem, NC) brought out over 300 players in the band. 9 Helicons were there along with many other tubas and sousas. One of these was a German silver tenor version. Bring your helicon and join us next year in Gods' Acre at sunrise!

I wish I lived somewhere near Old Salem. I meet players only in opera and conservatory. Hope to buy tickets (finally) and come there!

The churchyard being called Gods' Acre makes me ask, whether this is from what we, in a literal translation, call The Congregation of the Brethren (which Wiki tells me is the Moravian Church in the US)?

Quite correct sir. There are two provinces of the Moravian church in the US. The Southern Province is based in Winston-Salem NC, and the Northern Province is headquartered in Bethlehem, PA. Bethlemhem is also the site of the Moravian Music Archives and center for the study of Moravian music.

Wow, Nine Helicons! Cool!
Klaus, the church is also known as the UNITAS FRATRUM.

Bethlehem has their God's Acre right by Central Moravian Church.
I am Moravian too, and Play Contrabass Trombone in
the Bethlehem Area Moravian Trombone Choir [est. 1754]

Any of you guys coming to the Moravian Music Festival in 2013?
I had a blast down in Belmont, NC back in 2009.
