The Rose Bowl football game was outstanding this year-----two very fine teams playing their hearts out. I saw several shots on TV of the Michigan and Texas bands, and was wondering what brands of Sousaphones they were using and the approximate value of the instruments. Who pays for those horns?

If I had any desire to march the Rose Parade (which I don't), and my high school band were going (which it isn't), and I had graduated (which I have), I would call my band director and make a strong case for "alumni privileges."

Offering to pay your own way might help, too.
