I have seen other trombonists mounting spare mouthpieces on the tuning slide stray by means of duct tape. This approach here looks more efficient.

That was a great idea. Btw, the tuning mechanism seems to be advanced too :)

The lyre clamp, which has nothing to do there, may blur it a bit, but is that tuning mechanism so special at all?

Acoustically it is a good idea as the tuning slide branches do not interrupt the ideal expansion of the bell section bore. But isn’t as little slide inertia as possible even more important?

I know that Klaus, just a bit of that 'dumme schweden' humor, it did look advanced though... I think that tuning in the slide, TIS, is superior to tuning in the bell. For example old Conn and Olds bass trombones and others used it. Now both Shires, Schagerl and a couple ot others have rediscovered it. Older slides were a bit heavy but modern ones are very light, almost no difference compared with a traditional slide. If the overall balance of the instrument is good then a heavier slide is no problem but if the bell is light and the slide heavy, like for example many older German trombones, then we have a problem.
