What else do you really need to know that hasn't been posted already?

Dude, you're totally phoning it in. It's weak and old. I've regularly run threads here up to 5, 6, even ten or more pages with just the tiniest amount of effort. Some hints:

1. This forum has almost no sense of humor. Funny here means mentioning beer usually. You need to take advantage of no one getting your jokes.

2. The crazy assholes that overpost here really are crazy assholes, so that's nice, and furthermore, see my first point. You call one of these people crazy assholes and they'll try to ream you a new one for days.

3. Curse. Man, I get SO much mileage out of the word "bullshit" in this forum.

4. Wait for the right thread up top and make that one grow. People are all argued out about Chinese built tubas right now. They're still crazy assholes, but they don't feel like fighting about it. Something on the first page will almost guarantee you a well trolled thread if you know the right buttons to push.

If you'll notice, I haven't trolled the Gemeinhardt-Chinese Eb/F threads that much (as those are original designs). I only questioned the dependent 5th valve - until I played one (away from an elephant room) and determined that the 2-4 combo on those particular tubas is close enough to be useable for both pitches. (Having owned a dependent 5th valve Eb tuba in the past, it was definitely a short-coming on that particular instrument.) The only other thing that I might like (re: the Gem Eb/F) would be some sort of bracing of the #1 slide assembly (which is hanging out in the breeze, possibly subjecting the #1 valve casing to some level of peril).

Having been using the Gemeinhardt F on many, many ( way too many commencements..) free lance gigs in the last few weeks ( and currently as I write this using it on a gig), I've had no problems at all using the horn-- horn is fantastic, and well built. My 2 cents, and back to work.....

I'm guessing that somehow you are somebody special, therefore when you call people names, you aren't anything like those you are calling names.

As for reaming "you a new one for days," I don't really think it's worth the effort, here. If you find TubeNet so uninviting, why not simply uninvite yourself to it.

You need to prioritize your life, certainly you should be making a road trip to somewhere in western Tennessee. I'm sure Bloke would let you put yourself up in a hotel there while you try to arrange a meeting.

I wonder if the concept of "Blokestock" discussed here a couple of years ago could be resurrected...

It was to have BBQ, BBb vs. CC horn testing by how far each could be thrown, a beer tent with beer girls and other delights...

I'm still in favor of it but, like many good ideas, nothing ever came of it. It is easier to talk about things than to do them...

Went back and discovered that the purpose of the tuba toss event was to determine horn size- 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 and all sizes in between. The horn thrown the farthest would be the smallest, etc. Seems to be as accurate a measure as anything used now. The manufacturers could claim the costs as 'research and development'.

I'm not going to revive the other thread more than this, but to me musical humour whether it be jokes about music or jokes in the music, have to be really subtle and really well executed to catch on or totally over the top (i.e slapstick).
