Kanstul CC Cimbasso Pics

Kanstul has built a CC cimbasso, finished last Wednesday afternoon. Here are some pics of production manager Troy Emmons finishing the assembly and testing the instrument. A few more pics show its size compared to an F tuba and a euphonium bell.

Price is not yet finalized, but there was some talk of street pricing being in the range of the model 90 CC tuba. A main slide tuning trigger is a possibility, and the horn needs a few adjustments to be considered the final design. I don't yet know about plans for a case or introductory pricing options. The leadpipe design will change a bit to improve response.

Enjoy,

Ferguson

Cool horn. I suggest a shorter body so it can be worn on a harness standing. Why limit it's uses? I said the same thing about the F tuba too- that curvature of the valve block is the wrong way to go. The slide contra still needs a shorter Db tubing, a straight connector between the bell and slide, and average length cork barrels (and really a .578 upper slide, that would pull the whole horn together). Good start on both ends though! :tuba:

I have no idea what you're talking about, so here's a picture of a cat with a pancake on its head.

Those are the branch sizes and bends they already had, so it was a quick start on the bell section. A Rudolph Meinl has a bell section almost as long, with a similar loop. The Haag F cimbasso has a longer bell section, but no loop.

Best,

Ferguson

Graduated bore through the valves, .689"/.710"/.734", same as the 90 CC.

Extra.

But we'll include a cat. How about one like this:

Just from eyeballing this, it looks to be about 1/2 conical, which is unusual for a cimbasso. I'd be curious to hear it.

I'm still laughing a day later at this. The combo of photo and caption is the best response to a post I've yet seen on here. Well done Steve!
