Simple tuba/euph quartets for HS students

Hello, one and all!

I am going to be teaching the High School tuba/euph class of the Wisconsin Summer Music Clinic in a few weeks, and I am looking for some simple, readable quartet tunes to read through with the group. It sounds like I am going to have 9 tubas and 5 euphs, so I probably can't have anything too intricate or light for the ensemble. On top of that, I fully accept that I am not the greatest of conductors, so I don't want to take on anything that I can't actually conduct. I am going to mine the music library here over the next week, but any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

The best thing I would say is go to tuba peter and find something fun. That was my favorite site through high school (just graduated, but it still is.) Some of the stuff that is easier for tubas on there is a little bit more difficult for euphs, but if they know what they're doing they'll be fine. A great thing about tuba peter also is all the fun stuff is free. For the finals in both of my band classes(nothing to do so I doubled up to help the lower ensemble) we needed music. Since I was working with people who will most likely be music majors in the future, I wanted them to have something fun so we played Raiders March from Indianna Jones off of tuba peter. Nothing wrong with playing songs of pop culture.

I have made quite a few of church related arrangements and editions for EETT-4-tets, but as the 1st euph goes up to high C it might be too tough for your target group.

It won’t fill your repertory, but I made a setting of Arcadelt’s Ave Maria that was performed in Atlanta-GA by a larger group quite similar to yours, only it also had trombones. It can be downloaded for free from my Yahoo-based project:

I have hundreds of early music pieces already typeset in Finale for recorder ensembles of various sizes. It's rather simple for me to transpose them down two octaves for low brass ensembles.

I would go with tuba quartets. All the parts will be covered and no one will feel the pressure to cover their part if they might be les experienced and can't play it right away.
