Misplaced GNAGEY TUBA

Post by Tundratubast »

To all, This may be premature, I sure hope so. I have just needed to file a claim with Jefferson Lines/Greyhound Bus Express.
I shipped my sold Gnagey 4/4 CC two weeks ago. An eighteen hour transit. Fargo, Minneapolis, Chicago, Benton Harbor, MI
destination Grand Rapids, MI. Apparently, None of these stations have seen this crate. It was shipped in a solid plywood box
47"L x 33"W x 28"D. Inside was the Gnagey 4/4 CC that I had traded. It has a King Raw Brass body, 4p/1R confiuration. Sports a
1918ish York bright silver Bell with solder scars from being a Top Action EEb. A very recognizable feature is the Leather Cronkite
Gig Bag. It is two tone, most beautiful Christmas colors of Red and Green possible, (Peaches Choice) If you are near these cities,
please keep a lookout for this horn. I think photos are still posted in For Sale, but I will add the link here also.
Thanks for your help and assistance.

Bloke, you're probably right, about the lack of interest, It is a large visible box, but it is not heavy. Very manageable by one person. Hopefully the claim/trace will float it to the surface. I've shipped lots of tuba & Sousa's this way. First bad experience, sending the refund to the buyer Monday. Ah the joys.

The likelihood of it sitting in some back corner of some remote Greyhound station (due to some lazy Greyhound employee not being interested in hoisting it into a bus...perhaps due to the heavy wooden box...??) is fairly high.
Reminds me of when I sold a tuba case to BBC some years ago. The first day a man from DHL showed up to pick up the empty case. He said that he didn't have a handtruck on his DHL van, so he couldn't take it. The next day a woman from DHL arrived. She picked up the case and put it in the back of her van. :|
