Good day,
Now that I'm living in Germany I want to know what is here for tubas. I know of the Big name factories (Alexander, MW, B&S) but want to get your knowledge of Germany. Where are some big music stores? Is there a German version of Tubenet here? I'm gonna be here for a few years so anything you know of let me know.

I live in Sembach but work in Heidelburg.

FMB in Gutersloh is worth the journey. They have stacks of tubas.

Thomann obviously, but not that near to you.

Musik Produktiv is pretty huge too and has a nice brass dept.

If you're travelling a bit, you could factor them in.

welcome in Germany! I thing you have found a good place in Heidelberg to start.
The biggest german musicstore http://www.thomann.de/de/index.html?sid ... 2d59e3a1d9 is only 230 km away from you, near Würzburg.
The second music store http://www.fmb-direkt.de/Metallblasinstrumente/ has much more Tubas in stock.
But you must drive about 500 km to Gütersloh.

Don´t forget Miraphone (Bavaria) or Gronitz (Hamburg is a very nice city) or Cerveny in Czechia!
Even Thein and Lätsch in Bremen is a good place to check out. A friend of me works as a repair technican by Thein.

vielleicht sprichst Du ja schon ein bißchen Deutsch??

Also, Thomann macht Dir den besten Preis in Deutschland, aber nur für Ihre Listeninstrumente. Die größte Auswahl
zum Antesten hast Du in Gütersloh bei FMB, im übrigen auch der Importeur für St. Petersburg Tuben.
Beim Tubaforum findest Du auch tolle Markeninstrumente gebraucht, oder bei ebay unter http://kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeigen/s ... tuba/k0c74.

In Deiner Region hast Du bestimmt öfters die Gelegenheit Mnozil Brass, maablosn, da´blechhaufn, La BrassBanda live zu erleben,
aber auch viele regionale Gruppen in Süddeutschland bieten von Dixieland bis boöhmisch-mährisch jeden Musikstil.

Achso, das Münchner Hofbräuhaus und das Oktoberfest solltest Du in Deiner Zeit hier irgendwann einmal besuchen!!
Aber auch das Dixieland-Jazz-Fest in Dresden im Mai jedes Jahr ist ein Highlight!

Other than Thomann, there aren't too many stores that stock lots of tubas. The best bet is to go to the factories. An exception is Hornboerse run by Bob Tucci, south of Munich. Try to schedule a lesson when you visit.

When the band travels to Bremen in January, go by the Thein brothers' shop and say hello. Send an email about a week prior to departure and they will expect you and as many friends as would like to come along. They love seeing the band members and giving the nickel tour. PM me when it gets closer.

Also, contact Rudolf Meinl, Jr. and schedule a visit. He always has a great collection, unless he's preparing for a large show. And since ITEC is complete, he's probably de-denting and cleaning the display horns to put back in the window of his shop. It's only a few hours from Kaiserslautern and very near Rothenburg, O.D.T., a medieval walled city that is worth a visit in summer and winter. You will by now have seen Kaethe Wohlfahrt stores on post. They are based in Rothenburg and have a neat museum. The nightwatchman tours are neat, too.

Markus Theinert was teaching in Mannheim at the conservatory but I'm not sure that's still the case. Send him an email and he can update you on his availability.
