This should maybe have been in the eBay section. While maybe not qualifying as a Verdi cimbasso I think it is very special and interesting so
here is the eBay auction for this instrument

And then I am not at all sure this was meant to be a helicon. Considering the vertical position of the bell when carried, this most likely was an attempt to imitate the raincatcher sousaphones.

Great looking horn. I always wonder about the size of the Eb and F helicons where the player fits. I think some of the Fs, especially, might fit a little tight on the average-sized American tubist.

But it turns out that in at least the most common case, where it's a Cerveny with one label or another stenciled on it, the F is the roomier of the two. Because it doesn't try to wrap around the circle, but instead doubles back as this one does.
But they don't offer much flexibility, with only one joint in the leadpipe where a sousaphone would have three, and the rotary valves can put the right hand in a more cramped position, so it's true that a good fit isn't guaranteed.
This one might have been designed to meet new safety regulations, for reasons that will be familiar to those who have played helicon in a marching type situation.

I might not fit in this one. For one of those ancient F helicons with a ton of old Cerveny mojo (and at least four valves) I might actually go on a diet.

I asked them for an "in use" picture - this is what they sent:

It always helps a lot to see a horn in context. That small upright bell looks really cool.
And, I will be having salad for lunch for a while.

Looks like they put the skinniest Polish guy they could find inside that horn. I'd never fit.

Maybe they couldn't think of his name, but were afraid his face would wring the bell...

Their buffing wheel is a not so smooth.
Just wondering, anyone here that got the horn?
