:?: What mouthpieces that have a shallower bowl design?
I am looking to create a brighter sound, and I am thinking that shallow is the way to go.

Lots of them. What inside diameter are you looking for. That will narrow the list down quite a bit.

Bach 30E and 32E -- I use a 30E on my CC with good results.

The Marcinkiewicz ST-4 works well (for me), too, but the throat is quite small (.302" vs. .328" for the Bach). It might work better if the throat was opened up a bit (and maybe the backbore as well).

I have a Wick 2SL, and it's likeable. It has about the same inner diameter and feel as a Bach 18, but with a sharper rim.

My favorite, though, is a Rudy Meinl 9 that I got from Lee Stofer. The rim is a little rounded. It has a nice balanced tone, reasonably fat with good harmonic content. There's a Bruno Tilz original that it's rebranded from.

I've also gotten a lot of mileage lately from a 1920's Conn Eb mouthpiece that came with my first Monster Eb. It has a shallow, conical cup and a very short outer bowl. It has no markings on the outside, but it is identical to Eb mouthpieces from some 1920's Conn catalogs I've seen.

If you want a really bright sound, Kanstul was making an "F-Eb" (or "Eb-F", I can't remember which) for its new line of bass tubas. The bowl is really shallow.

Reminds me of my Conn `Giant', and my Conn 3, though for all I know it could be smaller and shallower yet. No one makes anything like it today, am I right?
