My First Solo Soldering Job!

Post by Tubajug »

Hello all! Although it's not much to brag about, I thought I'd post some photos of my first solo outing with soldering (I had helped a little when flipping the first valve on this horn with a tech). I had removed the 3rd bow/branch (does the bottom bow count as the first branch? That's how I came to call the branch I removed the 3rd branch) for some dent removal (also my own practicing with balls and magnets). Anyway... I got it put back together this afternoon/evening and wanted to show off my (often sloppy) handiwork. Feel free to comment/criticize/construct all you want, this is my "learning" horn for some basic repair stuff. Some of the braces didn't fit quite right after some of the dent removal, so I either tried to reshape them or just make up for it with a little extra solder  Anyway, onto the photos!

This is it all taken apart:

And here are some of the joints/braces:

I plan on doing some clean-up work tomorrow and Friday, then bead-blasting it one more time on Saturday to try and get a uniform finish once and for all. Again, comment/criticize/construct away! Thanks all!

It helps to keep the part in the correct shape when you start taking dents out.
I did not, now I know for for next time!
