Bad decision?

Alright. So I've been searching around for a CC piston valve tuba, and I've yet to find one within my price range. Before I decided to give up on using a piston tuba and go back to rotary, I saw the Schiller American Heritage 5v- Piston tuba. I was wondering if anyone here has played the horn and what you think about it? I would go and try to test play them myself, but I don't live close enough to do so.

I have one of these piston CC JBCB-450 for sale with Wessex branding. As they come from the factory tuning is awful, but with modification can be made a reasonable in tune piston CC. However all the same everyone who has tried has preferred the rotary 410 CC.
I would strongly advise against buying a Schiller piston CC without trying first.

Don't pay retail. That way you can recover your money if the horn doesn't work out for you.

What sort of modifications would need to be done to these horns to make them decent horns?

D_gone,
I just bought a Schiller compensating euph. Be aware that this a German brand name, but made by the same company as the Essex above (recommended highly by the distributor, obviously). Jim Laabs Music, who owns the Schiller name, gives you a decent warranty period, not sure if it's 7 10 or 14 days, to return with full refund minus shipping. I know the rotary tubas from JIn Bao get good comments, but I have heard little about the piston horns. The euph is very nice.

Our Jin Bao comp euph rocks, better than the Besson or Willson euphs my unit has. Except for the whole topactionisterrible thing, I can't see the point of buying anything else if you're not a hardcore eupher. I'll be seriously checking out the contrabone and 1291 copies soon.
