Having trouble finding information about the Meister Walter Nirschl 4/4 CC. I played on the pre-production Gemeinhardt CC that was modeled after the Nirschl 4/4 CC at the 2012 PMEA All-State festival and found it really responsive with good intonation. I really loved it and am looking to sell my Miraphone 186 CC for something like the Nirschl 4/4 CC, possibly the Gemeinhardt CC (more info about the Gemeinhardt at http://www.barthsbrassblog.com/). I guess I'm just looking for some input regarding the quality of this kind of horn, some suggestions on similar tubas, or just general information about these tubas to help me form a more complete picture of this horn.

The 4/4 Nirschl CC built by Herr Nirschl and his staff in his workshop is listed as the Model MWN7.

Currently, no dealer in the US stocks Walter Nirschl tubas. But Herr Nirschl is a gracious host when you visit his workshop to buy his 4/4 or 6/4 CC's or other models. I am under the impression that he does not maintain a back stock from which to choose; you pay for the horn and you go to Geretsried to take possession. Walter is very accommodating and sincere about pleasing every customer.

FWIW, the last time that I saw a new Meister Walter Nirschl offered on an American dealer's website was about two years ago when Dillon Music listed the 4/4 CC for $16,995.

There is a thread on the production Gemeinhardt BBb and CC-- they will be here the end of September--the CC is amazing--I have one on order-- a lot are ordered ( a 'full' container worth) -hence the longer wait due to the size of the order--don't take my word on it--contact Dick Barth and go play them in Elkhart when they come in--I am sure you will like Very much.

The Brazillian Weingrill Nirschl CC and the new Gemeinhardt CC tubas may look similar, but are different (different lead pipe, different bell, different 5th valve, different valve stroke, etc.). You can test play a production Gemeinhardt CC around the end of September in Elkhart--not sure if you can test play the Brazillian Nirschl in the U.S. FYI.

Weingrill & Nirschl tubas follow Walter Nirschl specifications. Gemeinhardt tubas probably follow Richard Barth specifications.
