Hi-

I am considering purchasing an instrument located in Bloomington, IL.
Problem is, I live in Boston.
Any pro-level players in that areas interested in helping out with a playtest?
Happy to make it worth your while.

I'm no professional, but I'm not too far from Bloomington and I play a TON of tuba, so I might be able to pick up on the pitch tendencies/overall feel of the horn.
It might not be all that beneficial, though because a horn will sound different depending on whose hands it's in. What might sound terrible when I play, might sound awesome when you play. So I'm not sure how accurate either me or a professional's take on a horn would be, because it might be completely different than what works for you.
I'd suggest convincing whoever your buying from to allow you to ship it back if you don't like it, although that might be a hassle.
Anyways, I'd be happy to test the horn out for you if you can't find anyone in the area with more experience.

You might consider talking to one of the college professors around the area. Even if they cannot play it, they may be able to tell you about the horn and the owner. They might even know the seller.
