I am a new member trying to find out more info on my father Louis Pirko. We were very close.
He passed away in Sept 1985. I remember he played with the New Yor Philharmonic Orch, The National Symphony and Finally The Baltimore Symphony Orch before we moved to Florida in 1979. If anyone has any info on my dad I would appreciate anything thank you Mike Pirko

I have none of the knowledge you ask for, and even TubeNet so far hasn’t told much about your father. This link should give a comprehensive search:

Mike,
I don't have too much information on your Father, though I have a little on his instruments. I don't know if he might have had two rotary valve Kings like the one in the publicity photo (.687 bore, CC). I do know that he sold one to Joe Novotny, who played the horn in the NBC Symphony and the NY Phil. If the horn in the picture is the same one, then the "kicker" on the tuning slide was removed at some point (and I do know that Joe had the downward-extending third valve slide turned to extend up, in parallel as was done by Abe Torchinsky and Bill bell). That configuration was adopted on the M-W Bell Models.

A friend of mine also recalls that in the 50's he had a really nice Sanders CC.

I may have an article with a picture of your Dad. I'll look for it later.

Mike
