David Silverman's flaming sousie is in the background.
I joined the Burning Band last week (on helicon) and did some wonderful gigging with our 5-tuba bass section, including two flamers. David Richoux was there also. Hope to see some video and stills later this month.

I was surprised how well the horn sounded without much of a bell! The flame could shoot up about 15 feet. David Silverman's "Tubatron" has more of a fan shape across the top of the bell and he can control it a bit better, but it does not flame up as much.

This is most of the Burning Band's low brass section. The pic was taken at the 2012 Burning Man Festival at the French Quarter.
