Audition Pieces for Theme Parks
I have an audition for a theme park coming up. Does anyone have any suggestions of some pieces I could play? I have some ideas myself, I was just wondering what you guys thought. Thanks for the help!!

FYI: The following info applies if you are auditiioning for a full time position.
Since you are in Orlando, you could try looking up Ed Firth. He played out there for many years. He still knows a lot of folks, I'm pretty sure, and knows alot about playing at the parks.
-Or-
You could look up Mike Roylance and/or Chris Olka (both who have user ID's on this forum) and ask them this in a private message.
If this is for a "student" gig I'm not sure what to tell you. When I auditioned for student gigs, there was no real set piece to play.
If is is a student job, try contacting Ron Ellis at the University of Central FLorida. He might still be in the loop on that stuff or know who is.
Good Luck

I have to agree with the previous poster. During my college days, I played in numerous park bands. What a great experience it was. I can't stress enough how important it is to work on your ability to read chord progressions. Also, the Blood Sweat and Tears hit, Spinning Wheel, made its way into the program just about everyday. Some other piece you may want to work on are Peter Gunn, Eye of the Tiger, the A-Team theme song, and cartoon theme songs. You may also want to break into the musical theatre genre. Learn a bunch of the different Broadway tunes...they will always be a hit. Finally how about some music of The Beatles, great songs that everyone knows. Best of Luck to you.
