Has somebody made a tuba like this?

I found this video intreging, a step by step instruction on building a functional trumpet out of wood. Including real tuning slides and correct bore size through the crooks.

My uncle made these horns for me.
They're good for playing on the beach.
He made them when I was 4 miles from Venice Beach.
Now I'm about 4 hours from the Atlantic.
They are a nice conversation piece.
