I am having trouble finding info on my recently acquired Meinl Weston. I am currently laid up and not working, but I wanted a horn that was REALLY affordable and didn't embarrass me when I played it in public. I found a 3-piston-valve upright bell MW that I am guessing is a model 10. I like it, and I hope to use it to upgrade at some point. My question is, what is the general opinion on this horn? I paid $625 shipped to get it to me. Thanks in advance for your input, and Happy Tuba Holidays to you all!

This is going back a long way, but when I was a freshman in HS a few decades ago, when I hadn't yet proven myself to the point where I could get my hands on one of the two B&S Karl Zeiss instruments everyone wanted to play, I played one of these. The most I can say now after all these years is that I got better while playing it, it didn't hold me back. And after all, it's a Meinl-Weston. It may be limited, but it almost has to be usable.

We had some of these when I went to FSU - totally horrible! Peronally, I would choose the 3 valve MW

Haha. Well, we were kids. What did we know? And honestly, they got me into and through three years of all-state and some other good experiences, so I've got nothing against them. I haven't played one since 1982, so all I've got is memories.
