Tuba parts

Post by Tabor »

I am really starting to dig this tuba part for an unnamed concerto for harp and wind band. It is syncopated, requires clean articulation and the passagio sits low. It sounds good but makes me wish I had a BAT. I only have the first movement because the other two are still being composed.

Who wrote this piece

The guy writing the piece is Paul Schutz. He's a young guy who is doing Teach For America and he is conducting the South Dakota Symphonic Band. He wasn't a music major, but he has some interesting compositional ideas. I should put the "bug in his head" about writing for tuba. He's still pretty young and out in the middle of nowhere, but if he keeps composing, I think we may all hear of him someday.
