Overhaul

Post by mlorrison »

Hi everyone!

Is there any harm in keeping a tuba in raw brass? Is there a clear coat or something that could be put on it to keep it looking good? I kinda like the raw brass look after ive seen several tubas like that but i don't want to have it start turning the nasty type raw brass look after awhile? If anyone has any answers it appreciate it. I was getting it silver plated but i don't want that anymore and too funds and time has run out i need my horn back asap!

a clear coat is lacquer. Either it's coated or not.

Actually, you could try waxing it. It will take frequent reapplications, expecially in the places you touch while playing. I'd prefer polishing it every few months or so, but that's me. Actually, I'd just leave it be and not worry about the looks.
