Looking at the first and second valve tubing makes me feel that it's a BBb.And what's with the "stereo bell" part of the description? That and some other issues make it look as if the description was written by someone quite ignorant of tubas.

This is most definitely a late 1930's York Model 716 BBb tuba, not a baritone. The engraving says York Band Instrument Company not J.W. York and Sons. I know because I own one from 1939 and it's 1955 York-Master copy.

The York BBb upright bell version is the Model 712 and the small bows wrap differently. Note the horn on the left below, it is a Model 712 next to my York-Master.

I agree with Bandmaster and can confirm that the picture in the Stearns Collection is, in fact, BBb.
When I get a moment, I'll take a picture and post the CC version of this horn.
