Moondance (1990)

Post by Dean E »

I stumbled across this wonderful recording (especially if ones computer's sound system comprises woofers and a sub-woofer).

Tuba Quartet-Moondance, John Stevens, composer, conducting.
ITEA Conference, Sapporo Japan (1990).

Roger Bobo - B&S F (Symphonie)
Harvey Phillips - Pre-WWII Conn CC
Daniel Perantoni - Kurath F
Warren Deck - Yamaha 822 CC

I was craving a re-listen to this and can't find it anywhere.

Looks like the video was pulled from YouTube. Did anyone have the foresight to save it?

I had a chance to perform this piece this summer, playing the bottom line. Any idea where the video went?

One has to wonder why the original video was pulled.

Brainstorming possible reasons:
Perhaps the Harvey Phillips estate legal machine requested it?
Summit Records requested it?
ITEA requested it?

I personally found the video a positive part of the listening experience and would hope that the motivation was not purely financial. Whatever the reason, I would hope an effort would be made to preserve and make available the original video.

And TubaChristmas® is a massive turn-off for me ever since I was approached to fork over a ton of money to sponsor one in 1993. It is all about the holly-jolly dollar.
I like this collection of sentences as much as it is possible for me to do so.

Either this video is mis-labeled OR it's a different recording from the one at the top of this thread.

The original video featured Deck on the bottom part.

Not to beat a dead horse BUT I really wish we could see this performance video.

Only still image from that performance that I can find.

Harvey performed beautifully.
