John Fletcher's Death

Post by Billy M. »

Ok, I feel really outta the loop about this and even sheepish too cuz I don't know, but what in the world caused the untimely death of the famous London tubist?

Where can the book be purchased?

Doc
The book 'John Fletcher - Tuba Extraordinary' is available direct from the John Fletcher Trust, 14 Hamilton Terrace, London NW8 9UG, ENGLAND. Prices for the book are £12 in the U.K., £13 in Europe, £15 overseas (the USA price I presume) including postage. Payment is accepted by International Money Order, Eurocheque, or a cheque payable at a London bank.

You may also be able to get from a UK music shop. I got mine from http://www.philparker.co.uk/
Any chance one of the exhibitors will be able to bring some for sale at the upcoming TUSAB tubaeuph conference?

When I was 10 and in beginner band, I went with my teachers and a small group of students to hear this brass group, the Phillip Jones something-or-other. The tuba player was amazing. Got to meet him after the performance. His name was John something.

That's how it was to a 10-year-old. Many, many years later, I am still struck with meeting a man who was, at least to me, kind, humble, funny, and an amazing musician. I asked him to sign my program, and it pains me that I have no idea what happened to it.
