What the heck is that thing on the bell? Looks almost like a Zerk Fitting for adding grease

It is the socket for a lyre. The old handwritten marching books had a good deal of 2-page marches. Lyres with rounded stems allowed for a fast page turn by rotation.Rick F wrote:What the heck is that thing on the bell?
