It says 'Melton Spezial Jon Sass' on the goldbrass bell, and has a inscription 'haagston' as well.
Great tuba, great sound!
Great addition next to the Willson BBb.
Now just me getting used to CC playing...

Sweet horn. The switch to C fingerings can be hard if you use the BBb much. Concentrate on the new fingerings.

Any chance of a picture of it next to your giant tubas?

Yep. I learned to play c very easily once there were no BBb tubas in the house and it was no longer an experiment. Until then it was just about impossible.
Beautiful horn, BTW.

As a product of the Belgian music education system and a brassband player Wim should have no trouble at all with the fingerings. People here are well trained in (sight)reading several clefs and he's used as a brassbander to reading C & G as open notes.
He'll just have to get used to the instrument
(Wim, can you bring it to rehearsal sometime? I'd love to try it, as I'm sure the others would

)

What's the diameter of the bell? It appears rather small? Do you get a rather bright sound from the horn?

Nice tuba. But I'm most interested in that old Kaiser BBb on the left.

Is it a Bohland & Fuchs?

Read more in this post about the same tuba:

It could be a B&F but it could as well have been made by another Graslitzer tuba manufacturer in the 1930's ...
The only inscription on the bell is an inventory number from the "Stadt-Orchester Freiburg Im Breisgau". See picture.
