Return to playing

I was a tuba player in high school back in the 1970's, I'm 50. I was in a friends brass repair shop the other day and he just got in a used YBB 104 and he let me give it a try and to my own suprise I still have some chops left. So now I've got the bug and want to play again if just for fun. Can't afford the Yamaha, to rich for my blood, I have been looking on eBay and also looked on Dillon Music's site. Don't really want to spend a ton of money, would like to stay in the $500 to $700 range, can anyone help. Also any advise on getting back to playing would be great, I can't even remember what size mouthpiece I used.
Thanks, Dave :tuba:

Welcome back to tuba, Dave! Don't know if you prefer top-action or front-action tubas but I think the best bang for your $500 or so might be either a King 1240 or an Olds/Reynolds 0-99.

...and a good place to start in your search for a tuba might well be to go to: http://thevillagetinker.com/ I haven't looked recently, but he usually has some horns that might fit the profile. Regardless, he might be of some help to you.

And...welcome back!
