Pictures. Mike Sanders has been planning to play Bydlo, not Tim Myers on euph. I am not sure what horn Mike is using, but I will know tomorrow. It will be broadcast Saturday night, live, at 8CST via
http://www.stlouispublicradio.com
spelling corrected. and, the listen link is easily found within.

Clearly, neither is the correct link (how could you not tell?).
Try here:

Mike Sanders is a remarkable musician. This would be a real treat to hear for anyone, not just tuba players or orchestral brass aficionados.

ok...Tim is doing Bydlo after all. He is a glorious euph player....funny, I see only 1 sound barrier in the brass...in front of the bass bone...Go Gerry!

Except that your link, or even the corrected spelling of your link, doesn't lead to any place where you can navigate to the broadcast.
On the internet, there's a significant difference between "stlouispublicradio.com" and "stlpublicradio.org."

Where? What do you click on on that page your link leads to? It's a generic "search" site that looks like a domain "for sale" page. There's no direct link on it to listen to the St. Louis Symphony tomorrow.
That link is here:
http://www.stlpublicradio.org/listen.php. Then all you have to do is click "Listen Live" in the top left corner of the page.

SeanMClancy wrote:"You spelled something wrong and anyone that didn't notice is not as smart as I am. I'm a huge @@@@@ on the Tubenet forums, blah blah blah, most of my posts are just me being a rude, snarky jerk about everything I can pick apart. I think it's cool and socially acceptable to be this way on an internet forum."
You make an awful lot of assumptions that you can't back up. Yeah, I'm the "huge @@@@@."
My first post was polite enough, with a small dig (how could you not tell?) which I thought was pretty appropriate. If you post a link, you probably ought to at least click on that link in your post to make sure it goes where you say it goes and people don't get needlessly confused.
But that wasn't even the end of it. The OP came back with a "corrected spelling" which didn't correct anything and some sort of weird explanation that he was giving a link that would get you to the broadcast easily ("via" or something). Again, had he simply clicked the link and followed it to where he wanted people to go there wouldn't have been a problem or a need for correction. His link as posted right now STILL doesn't take you to the broadcast or a link to the broadcast. Or a link to a link to a link to the broadcast (get the point?).
I really don't see how it's somehow "more civil" to just let people be confused and not be able to find the broadcast they had heard about when they come to this thread just before the concert starts.
In other words, noob, there's a big difference between snarking just to troll and correcting to help people find what they're looking for. I really, really hate it when I do the second thing and get accused of doing the first.

Noob to posting on the TubeNet forums, sure (how can you not tell?).
Defintely not a noob to dealing with overtly negative pricks, though. I'm pretty sure I dealt with plenty during my first few years of grade school.
I appreciate when someone helps to expose this group to something worthwhile, even if the medium of exposure isn't perfect. What's great about this forum is that people from all demographics are able to share and experience information - so I don't expect perfection in a tuba/music-based forum.
Maybe I'm the one that has unrealistic expectations, but I'd rather be on the friendlier side of a public forum than not.

The objection isn't to presenting information that's "not perfect."
The objection is to the reaction when someone is corrected. It gets incredibly frustrating when someone tries, out of the spirit of cooperation and helpfulness, to add additional information to clarify a point or make something easier for others to experience and then be the brunt of both the original poster "digging their feet in" in some sort of face-saving attempt that's neither warranted or necessary as well as others coming into the thread merely to wag their fingers at the person doing the correcting.
In other words, you're looking for a problem where one doesn't exist. No one expects perfection here, but there should be a reasonable expectation of correction when one makes a mistake.
But go ahead and call me a "@@@@@" at least one more time if it makes you feel better. It certainly must feel like it makes your point stronger to you.

You may not be a @@@@@ in real life, but your posts on this forum speak for themselves.
All I've got to go off of is your public forum posts, man.

Well, if my conduct on here is so offensive I suggest you report them to the moderator. The little triangle with the exclamation point is right over there.

I'm sad that I'll be missing the concert tomorrow evening, just as I was bummed that I missed the SLSO Planets last week with Slatkin.
I've heard the orchestra play Pictures twice over the last 10-15 years, and Tim Meyers played the solo both times that I was in attendance. He sounds impressive, to say the least.
Bydlo or no, Mike will sound great, as he always does.
Thanks to the OP for giving the heads up on the link.

... only 1 sound barrier in the brass...in front of the bass bone...
Placed there on request of the bassbonist allowing his use of the phrase: “On reflection....”

Ow...I pricked my finger and my feelings are hurt.
Folks, it's the internet and many of us don't even know the person on the other side of the post. Just go play some tuba.

fantastic. not a blowout onthe Great Gate, but a solid wall to be admired. Bydlo delicious. Tempi were different but wonderful, slows slower and fasts faster. Very tasty interpretations over the whole concert.

Good to know. I am just tuning into the broadcast now. I don't believe I've missed it. Looking forward to hearing it! As long as I don't have a kid meltdown, all should be good

Some really lovely playing. I don't mind the euphonium being used for Bydlo at all when it's that beautiful.
I do have a comment though...I don't think I've ever heard a performance of this work where the soloist doesn't nudge that last high G# a bit. It's notated to be softer than the phrases before but I don't think I've ever heard it actually PLAYED that way.
And yeah, I'd play that note a bit stronger than indicated, too.
