New Kanstul 5/4 horns

Hi Tubeneters!

I did a quick research for posts on this but found very little info:

Has someone tried the new 5/4 horns from Kanstul? It's nearly impossible to get a few samples up here to try them out but they seem like super nice horns and the price is appealing. Are they consistant? How's tuning, ease of playing etc.
Would you see them in an orchestral setting?

Also how is the model 90 4/4 CC?

Thanks!

Search on the author Ferguson and you will get lots of stuff about those horns. He's the "Horn Guys" man and they handle Kanstul.

Did find an extensive thread about Kanstuls from Tubacube, with posts from Ferguson... Thanks for the tip! Strange it didn't show up in my first search as the subject is VERY clear: New Kanstul 5/4 grand CC and BBb tubas.

It's also true Hornguys don't seem to carry Kanstul anymore; don't know what happened there...

I've played all the Kanstul tubas that you have mentioned. I like them. I really like the 4/4 CC tuba. I didn't find it hard to hold at all and I liked it more than say a PT606. The Grand CC is a pretty good horn too. Size wise it's like a PT6P. I like it more than the PT6P because I find it easier to play with a more interesting sound and better low end. That horn is kinda hard to hold. I'm not a big guy at 5'9 and I find it much harder to hold than my Nirschl 6/4 CC. For me I wouldn't spend the 10,000+ to get one. If they were in the 8,000 range they would sell like hot cakes. The Grand BBb in my opinion is better than the CC. Everything about it is just 5% better and it has a Marzan style main tuning slide on the back. Continuing on the Kanstul 5/4 trend the Grand F is an interesting horn. It is pretty different from anything else out there. I like the response and the sound of that horn but I don't like the pitch. That horn needs slide pulling to play in tune. However, it too has a Marzan style main tuning slide with a two way spring built onto it.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
