Mouthpiece ID?

Post by Tubajug »

I found this mouthpiece at one of the elementary schools where I teach. It has no markings on it at all. It has a more rounded rim than my Helleberg.

With just a good ol' wooden ruler it measures about 3 13/16" tall. The shank is about 1/2" wide (outside diameter), or 13mm at the opening and 1 3/4" long. The outside diameter of the rim is about 1 7/8", the inside is about 1 1/4".

It's probably a copy of something, but what? I'm not a mouthpiece guru, I have my Helleberg and my Helleberg 7B and those work fine for what I play on.

Any guesses? Thanks!

The shank taper is a little too pronounced to be a Bach 18 or copy. I'm thinking Herco or equivalent.

The cup reminds me of mouthpieces coming with Amati tubas, but I don’t know the outer shape.
