Re: FRANKENTUBAS
Yup. I've got one right here. I went into a trade with a BMB 4V 6/4 BBb, did some A/B blind testing with the trumpet player I took along listening. He said something along the lines of "If you don't make that trade, I'll hurt you."tank wrote:I am curious if Gnagey ever made a 6/4 BBb.
Gnagey Martin (bell) King (valves 1-3) Conn (valve 4)... 5th valve unknown to me.

Re: FRANKENTUBAS
For everyone's information I am near completion of a silver 5-valve 4/4 CC and am working on a 5-valve Martin 6/4 BBb. The 4/4 CC has a York 19.5" bell. I'll be offering the 4/4 CC for sale when it's done, probably in a couple weeks.

Re: FRANKENTUBAS
First 6/4 CC Martin/gnagey king miraphone revamped by Stover...This is the first! The sound is full and rattles the windows in my practice/computer/music room <S> The 4 valves now look the same size even though the last one is a Conn ...He put a new spoon lever and connection to the rotary 5th valve (easier to acsess) He polished it nice but I'm letting it go back to dull with a shiny front all in all He did a very fine job.....BB

That's the same bugle as on the 6/4 Martin CC that Joseph Agnew is selling:bigbob wrote:First 6/4 CC Martin/gnagey king miraphone

Re: FRANKENTUBAS
If my memory serves me right, the bugle on Agnew's tuba is even larger than Big Bob's. I think it's the most massive instrument that I've ever seen in person.

Here's my new BBb horn from Tabor. It's next to a Yamaha 641 for reference.

Re: FRANKENTUBAS
I can't believe I've failed to post mine. The first was just a Bach 3-valve that needed a new bell. Dan Shultz made one for me from a Conn stack and Blessing flare:
I did the initial build of combining a King body and valveset with a Holton Monster Eb bell and bottom bow:
I then sent it off to Dan Schultz for dent removal and other tweaking. It's my main horn for the foreseeable future. I like it!

This is my favorite CC that I've owned. If you need to know my history just ask. This is a York, King, Reynolds CC if I'm remembering correctly. Amazing piece of plumbing. Need a super solid and gorgeous sounding horn contact group member Tabor.

The third 6/4 CC by Sam Gnagey. Cerveny bell, Conn wrap, and King valves. Love it!
