Just to clarify the components of this instrument: The bell is Cerveny, the branches are Martin, the valve cluster consists of 3 King valves and a Conn 4th valve. The rotor is Meinlschmidt.

Here is another photo or two. The top is a king/York built by another member of TubeNet. It is a spectacular instrument. It is hanging out with a York Master fitted with an old Conn bell. (Thanks to Lee Stofer for that ferrule)
The other photos are also of tubas.

Thanks all for sharing - there are some really cool horns here!
This is (to the best of my knowledge/understanding), a 1918 York 33 that was converted by Bob Rusk to a front-action CC. The original piston valves were replaced by a King 1240/2340 valve set, and 5th valve is likely a Meinl-Weston s-linkage era valve. Past the valve cluster, the bugle is from the original horn.

This is the most involved project I have done, to date. It is an F tuba now. It was once several different things.
It started as a banged up Conn Eb and spare parts.
has a nice scale. EDIT: after more play testing, it has since scale except for a particular range of 5 notes that are difficult to center. I suspect it spends too much time hanging around .750 bore so it is back to the drawing board for the running gear with a new, larger bugle.

...and yeah, I liked my hybrid (much of the same stuff, but with the original 2165/Holton-shaped bell PLUS an old 1990-vintage bell ring) better than that hybrid. Same "electricity"...just a bit more "jolly".
Did you get rid of your 2165, Joe? I remember it from when I used to come here a lot 4-5 years ago, but I've been fairly absent since.

Interesting bracing there Tabor. It gives it a very "beefy" look. What were the donor parts on that one? I can see the King valves, what else did you use?

Grbic (york) and King bugle. The heavy 1 piece bracing is made from flat brass bar stock. The thumb paddle started as a silver fork & some brass rod from Tractor Supply.

Actually, I have contemplated putting a side-action set on a 15" bell Besson (or Boosey). Haven't found one suitable ($$) to me yet.

I also have an original detachable upright York bell (18 1/2" diameter), but I find the Yamaha bell (17 1/2") gives a slightly more focused sound, especially in the register below low B flat.
