Hahaha. Classic. How much did they cost to get made?

The old York mouthpiece I had for awhile had a different taper, not necessarily a larger shank. But I couldn't figure out what it originally was because about a quarter inch had been cut off the shank to make it fit a modern receiver. So I sold it.

I asked Matt at Dillon Music last week. He has a few left for $175.00.

So, you don't care about the shank size and you don't care about the gap? So, why start a poll/thread?

What are you hoping to find out?

I think people are blowing some things out of proportion. I'm pretty sure this was mainly just supposed to discuss mainly standard an euro shanks and really whether or not someone would use one in the other or vice versa. I think it's a legitimate poll. Maybe someone might play better if they used a euro shank in a euro size receiver but maybe the might play better the other way. It's all personal preference. If it works for you and it sounds good do it. Regardless of mouthpiece/equipment choice. We're all made differently, most of us will get different results for different things. I'm not trying to step on toes, just stating my opinion. (I use a Euro shank in a standard receiver)

It might have been coming from another poster. Under the circumstances, it's a pretty obvious attempt to stir the pot just to watch the stew spin.

The guys in my old neighborhood made shanks by rubbing a piece of steel on the sidewalk until it was as sharp and pointy as they wanted.

Let's face it Brian, he doesn't want to learn, he just wants to be a SMART pain in the ***.

I suspect he may have found the park near Independence MO. where a sign at the entrance said "DO NOT PICK THE MARIJUANA!".

Must admit, I had Mizzery picked wrong; he is the happiest fellow to ever visit TubeNet.

Ignorance REALLY is bliss and he is the epitome thereof.

I'd say gap matters...Or I'd prefer to call it fit.

Using an Euro MP on an Am receiver will (with a typical backbore) leave a drop followed by
by a few cm of negative taper (choking). Some will experience this as increased control
in terms of more resistance as a (exponential) product of the air stream.

Pretty much the same as one might experience with poorly aligned valves

Some combinations might benefit from it, but when you need to
add 'resistance' by turbulence and choking, my view on it is that
one might have started out wrong in the first place
