Click the SEARCH feature at the top right (current) or top left (past years) of this TubeNet screen and then type rotor versus Piston. You will have hours of discussion to read and make a decision from.
As to a preference of Rotors or Piston valves my choice is that I prefer valves on the brand and key of tuba that sounds best to me when I play it. This means that (among the well respected makers at least) the horn maker, valve type and key are basically not as important as finding a horn that is enjoyable to play and helps you create the sound that is in your heart.
