E. Tennessee is a GREAT place to live. The weather, the scenery -- just outstanding (though cold & snowy at higher elevations). The problem is it's hard to work here because all you want to do is get to the mountains and go hiking!

This truly is a wonderful place to live. I'm right on the NC state line, so I'm in the "High Country." Believe it or not, we really don't get an overwhelming amount of snow.
The downside: people's stereotypes.
It's extremely difficult to go somewhere and not be looked down upon because you're from Eastern Tennessee, where "hicks" come from. I just have to ignore this and be a darn good tuba player.
An honest question for all: Do you look at someone with an "Eastern Tennessee" accent to be.....uhhh.........dumb? Just wondering.
I despise it when I can't speak to someone without them looking at me like I'm speaking Greek.

Let's see - why would we think that? - Could it be Sen. John Ford? Any region that would constantly re-elect that politician has got issues...
I do miss the east - on any bad day you could drive 15 minutes, get lost in the woods and bask in the gorgeous scenery for hours. Not to mention you never knew if that guy in the overalls was running 'shine or had a Doctorate in Quantum Physics.
At least that have good 'que in the west.
