Howdy fellow tubenetters,
I am looking for some solo and duet lit suitable for middle school kids that doesn't go above a fourth line F. If you know of any solo lit that would fit this range please let me know.

Also if you know of any new stuff out there other than the usual Weksellblatt and Walters type stuff, that would be suitable for this age please let me know. getting tired of the same old, same old.....

There's a Canadian brass solo book that I think is pretty good. Some of it does go above that F but it would be a good push. But I think that would be a good thing to look at.

There is an old Karl King composition called "The Octopus and the Mermaid" that meets your criteria. I checked with Barnhouse and they have no ambitions of re-releasing the piece with modern parts to replace the Db piccolo and Eb alto horn parts. It's an easy to play tuba solo if you would want to go to the trouble of doing a couple of transpositions.

BTW... I have this arrangement if you would like to 'borrow' it.

I don't know if it is still available but the Wekselblatt Solos For the Tuba has some pieces that would fit the need as and then have more challenging pieces for later.

Knuxie put out a duet book a couple years ago that I bought and worked up with a couple of the tuba players in Creswell. Very doable.

I have this book and have found the tunes fun to play with or without accompaniment.

It's right here:

Ken was looking for something than the Wekselblatt solos/duets, though...

Sorry I missed the comment about stuff other than the Weksellblatt. ( I misspelled his name too so apologize for that as well) You might consider the Lamento by Bennie Beach.
O Isis and Osiris by Mozart / Morris
Breeze Easy Recital Pieces by Kinyon
If thou be near by Bach / Thurston
Masterworks Solos by Dishinger
