Play more Not just that but you can also try some isometric exercises, I think that's the right name. one is to press, one at a time, your fingers against your thumb. Eg. Place the tip of your index finger against the pad of your thumb and push them together. Next, your naughty finger and so on. There are also some hand/finger strengtheners that trumpet players like to use, they are sort o hard to describe so ask a trumpet teacher or two.
there are several "hand strengthening" devices available on the market that are for what you ask. Some are nothing more than a rubber ball....and there are actually devices that have a seperate space for each finger..... Capt. Sousie's method is probably thr cheapest/easiest. You could also just ise a worn tennis ball and squeeze it just be careful of "Over Use" .

The person with the strongest hands/fingers I have ever known did something which built enormous strength in his hands. Although he is very old and his health is failing fast, he can probably still grab a bathroom scale and squeeze 250 pounds.
My grandfather's boyhood chores required that he would get up at 5-ish in the morning and milk cows until he had to ride his horse or take the buggy to school. I know that at one time they had more than 80 cows between him, his father and brother.
My grandfather's hands look somewhat like talons and I am not sure how much of this you would want to do before it would hinder your dexterity. Still, for building sheer strength, I don't think there is anything like milking a herd of cows every day.

this is too easy
what i did when i found i was having trouble is i went to the local hardware store and brought some thinker gauges of dprings for my valves and practiced with that on the day of a performance i would switch back to my old springs, worked great for me
