Just got a "baby" Oxford (Boosey & Hawkes) Eb sousaphone, very similar to the horn shown here. No serial number that I can find - I don't know where the number Horn-U-Copia shows might be. Only a 24" bell but all slides are .75" DIA.
It has an unusual history - it was part of a local convent band 50+ years ago, played by a novice. When the band got a newer Sousaphone this one was given to the novice (who eventually left the church.) It ended up on her antique store shelf and eventually to the person I bought it from.
It plays well, good low end and is in decent shape, but for me it is like wearing a medium size T-shirt! I fit in it, but just barely... it will need some polishing and new laquer.
My newest toy!
