Hi all,

I've been searching the forum for a long while now but I can't find that .pdf file someone was kind enough to post a while back. It was a transcription of Strauss Horn Concerto #1 for tuba. Somebody out there was kind enough to plug it into Finale for us.

Does anyone have a copy to share?

I, myself, did one in Sibelius years ago but it was on the same (now dead) computer as the other transcription. Hey! If I shared my Sibelius version with anyone, I'd be happy with an emailed copy of that too!

Thanks to those who can help me out.

Al

Since it is for horn in Eb I usually just read the horn part in bass clef, add 3 flats to the key signature and adjust for the accidentals. It's really not that hard. I've performed it this way a number of times.

Give it a try.

Yeah, the last two times I played it from the e flat part and then the transcription I made. I just really want a pristine one to share with students and to have in my filing cabinet. :)

I've played plenty of treble clef eefer parts.

Mr. Lewis, that is interesting. Though the first concerto is in Eb, Strauss, to the best of my knowledge, wrote the solo horn part in F. The 2nd Concerto has its solo horn part in Eb. However, if you can find an edition of Strauss 1, opus 11 with a solo horn part in Eb, the method Mr. Lewis has stated works well.

If you are looking for a published solo part in bass clef, Thompson Editions had one available with their arrangement for horn or tuba and band. As I remember, the solo tuba part could be purchased separately.

The copy I have (and it is a very old copy) is for horn in Eb. That's what I have worked from for years.

Just my experience.

Woohoo! I resuscitated my old hard drive. Here's the part I made about 11 years ago if anyone's interested:
