I thought I'd read somewhere that this small shank mouthpiece was designed for small receiver euphoniums (321's?). Can anyone offer any experience on this mouthpiece and how it compares to the 3g? Fwiw, I've played a 3g for almost twenty years so am familiar with this rim size.

I have one, but it's been adapted to a screw rim. I use it with my Schiller baritone, and got a 3g to use with euph and trombone. It works well for me, but the only comparison I have is the stock piece, more like a 12C size than a 6 1/2 AL size.

I've used the Bach 3 with small shank from time to time. Rim like a 3G (but remember Bachs vary by vintage) cup about as deep as a Bach 6 1/2 but with the small throat typical of most of Bach's small tenor trombone mouthpiece. This mpc works ok on small bore tenors for those who must use a large rim size, I've used in mostly on King 3B, but works ok on small conn, bach 12, etc. Not for everyone, but a far better mouthpiece for small horn than a 5G or 3G with small shank. Not for euphonium, a Bach 3G with small shank is better.

Bob, actually, the small shank 3 has a wider rim, which I guess is why it was adapted to screw. It needs replating, too, I'm living with nail polish for a while.
