Not very common in this shape, but we in between have discussed the dual pitch C/Bb French made baritones, which were used to read over the shoulders of organists and dance pianists respectively. The Bavarian/Czech C soprano flugelhorns had the same purposes.

Why do Catalonian cobla bands (I think) tend to use C baritones? I would guess much of this is historical accident, dating back to some regimental band director who has otherwise left no trace in history.
