Here's what I know: It's a Conn Pan American Eb.

I'm hoping you can help provide more info on this horn. I can't find a serial number.

Also, hoping to get an estimated value. I know one pic won't determine this, but maybe a range.

not of huge value. serial on leadpipe or 2nd valve? I'm thinking BBb...as is, $300

There should be a serial number on the outside of one of the valve casings... probably on the 2nd one. Sometimes serial numbers are quite light and difficult to see.

Value??? The horn looks to be in pretty good shape. If the valves are as good as the rest of the horn looks, you might be looking at between $300 and $500. There are plenty of differing opinions out there but from my perspective, these horns are not widely respected as being good players.

The third valve tubing looks too long for an Eb. However, the tuning slide length looks like it is in modern pitch of A=440. I had to cut the tuning slide on my similar Eb.

How does it sound against a tuner?

I started on this tuba in grade school. Then a friend found one at a flea market for about $20. I got it for a birthday present but could not play it with the bass trombone MP she was sold at a music store. So it sat for years. When I resumed tuba playing I started using Denis Wick MPs and cut it to modern pitch. I used it once for an opera piece with an ophecleide part.

It has been called a good Bydlo horn.

I thought the same at first, but I think it's a matter of scale. I'm comparing to my Pan American Eb Giant Bass - a much bigger tuba, I realize, with outer branches at contrabass scale, and taking that into account the valve section looks identical.

+1. Charming little tubas, but rarely found with great valves. Very small, and an easy F chop, if you're feeling audacious.
